We have developed our own definition of sustainability for CALUA which has been seamlessly embedded in every aspect of our supply chain. As we began, it was obvious: small unique collections which would be a counter-approach to mass production and fast fashion. Our focus is on timeless, but still trending pieces that can be worn for seasons. To achieve this goal, we put quality first; we choose the best materials that are environmentally friendly and promote social responsibility.

We all love getting and buying new stuff - it's never-ending! But here's the thing: our planet's resources aren't bottomless. The cool part? We can totally have the best of both worlds - keep enjoying new products and still make our environment better.
Firstly, we spend a lot of time on sampling. We work hard until our products are perfect no matter how much time or cost involved in the process. Our purpose is to create flawless patterns that can suit different body shapes and cut down on returns as well as unnecessary shipment costs.
We are committed to the use of premium sustainable fabrics with a focus on creating enduring and eco-friendly swimwear. The use of recycled fabrics is however given priority here.
Our finely chosen fabrics form the basis of our bikinis which greatly help in making sure that they last for seasons, do never disappoint in quality, and contribute to sustainability. In evaluating potential fabric suppliers, we prioritize those with a strong commitment to environmental conservation. Our main fabric supplier in Italy has developed its own reuse and recycling system for water, electricity, and waste, and has achieved remarkable results in environmental preservation.

ECONYL®
Most of our bikinis are made of 100% recycled ECONYL® yarn. This innovative yarn is regenerated from pre- and post-industrial waste such as discarded fish nets, carpet fluff, and tulle, recycled into new environmentally friendly yarn. Crafted from discarded materials, this yarn can be recycled endlessly, opening up boundless possibilities for innovators, creators, and consumers alike.

When we pick a manufactury, we weigh various things like materials, development process, working conditions, and how environmentally friendly the factories are. We know we have a responsibility to everyone involved in making our products, both those we directly and indirectly employ. We've built trust and friendships with our key suppliers and we regularly team up with them. All of our manufacturers are Portugal located and share our commitment to environmental protection. They align with all European standards for environmental practices, safety, health, and hygiene, ensuring ethical working conditions. We maintain daily communication and a close relationship with our team, appreciating their unwavering dedication to our brand and products.
